Professional Bio
Dr. Tracie Catlett joined Greensboro Day School (GDS) as the Head of School in 2019. Her education career spans over 25 years including 11 years in the public school system and 17 years with independent schools.
Tracie received a BS in Finance from Florida State University, MAT in Mathematics from the University of Louisville, and an EdD from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her research and dissertation on the Effects of a school-based mindfulness intervention on stress and emotions on students enrolled in an independent school.
As Head of School, Tracie has invested deeply in improving employee compensation and benefits, student and employee wellbeing, and the school’s commitment to inclusion and belonging. Under her leadership GDS has experienced record enrollment and fundraising growth, and the School is in the midst of building the new Helen Monroe Preschool Center (22,000 s.f.) and a new Center for Student Life, Entrepreneurship, & Innovation (49,000 s.f.). Tracie serves on the board of directors for United Way of Greensboro and MISBO and serves on the Advisory Board for Authentic Connections and the Ready for School Ready for Life Public Policy Committee. She was recently honored by the Triad Business Journal as a 2024 Outstanding Woman in Business.
Tracie and her husband, Mark, reside in Greensboro and have four sons and two dogs. Tracie enjoys traveling with her family, hiking in the mountains, reading, golfing, pulling a few pranks, skiing, listening to the How I Built this podcast, and long walks with their dogs.
