Student Events

The NCAIS Honor Band is an annual event that brings together talented Middle and Upper School musicians from independent schools across North Carolina for an inspiring and collaborative experience. Hosted at rotating colleges and universities throughout the state, this two-day event offers students the opportunity to work with distinguished clinicians, refine their musical skills, and perform in a culminating concert.

Students participate in intensive rehearsals, connect with peers from other schools, and experience the atmosphere of a collegiate music setting. The event concludes with a final concert showcasing their dedication and musical growth.

The NCAIS Honors Chorus brings together outstanding Middle and Upper School vocalists from independent schools across North Carolina for a dynamic and enriching choral experience. Held at different colleges and universities each year, this event allows students to work with esteemed choral directors, explore challenging repertoire, and grow as musicians.

Over two days of focused rehearsals, singers will develop their vocal artistry while building connections with fellow musicians. The event culminates in a final performance, highlighting their dedication and musical achievement.

The NCAIS Diversity & Inclusion Conference is a dedicated space for educators and Middle and Upper School students to engage in meaningful conversations about equity, inclusion, and belonging in independent schools. This annual event brings together thought leaders and educators to explore strategies for fostering inclusive school communities, supporting diverse student populations, and integrating culturally responsive practices into education.

This conference aligns with our association's obligation to be an inclusive environment. The materials will focus on robust data designed to provide insight to support our school communities in working with students, families, and staff from various backgrounds. The purpose and intent is not to create divisions, favor one group over another, or place blame on any group of people. Instead, we believe that the more you learn about each other, the better we can serve our students and community. All NCAIS members are welcome to come, regardless of background. We encourage participants to come with an open mind and willingness to explore different points of view.
