Professional Bio

Anthony (he/him/his) has served Carolina Friends as its first Director of Advancement, its first Director of Extended Learning (after-school and summer programs, travel, and other enrichment options for students, adults, and families), and now founding director and chief imagination officer of the Institute for Teaching and Learning (an umbrella for five programmatic strands).

This Arkansas native earned baccalaureate degrees magna cum laude in International Relations and History and an Asian Studies Certificate at American University and then completed an M.A. and Ph.D. coursework in History and received Phi Beta Kappa honors at Emory University.

He has worked as a teacher (in subjects including U.S. history, government/politics, debate, and economics), college counselor, and advisor at Holland Hall School (Tulsa), Raleigh Charter High School, Durham Academy, and CFS (2002-2005) and served in leadership and advisory roles for Student U, Junior Leadership Durham, Youth Services of Tulsa, GLSEN, Habitat for Humanity, and other professional organizations and nonprofits.
